Specialists for actuating and ISO special tools: MAPAL ITS

1997–2025

A few years after the integration of two small companies specialising in ISO tools into the MAPAL Group, MAPAL brings them together at a newly built site. Today, MAPAL ITS GmbH is one of the most modern and efficient production facilities in the field of actuating tools.

HIGH-TECH AND MANUAL WORK

In the 1990s, tools with ISO inserts became more and more important for MAPAL, especially as customers increasingly demanded complete solutions. In order to meet this demand, MAPAL acquires two companies that specialise in this area: Robert Strom GmbH in Vaihingen/Enz and Hafner-Werkzeug- und Formenbau in Sinsheim. In 1997, MAPAL founded MAPAL ISOTOOL GmbH there, into which the Hafner company was merged. The new company focusses on the planning, development, design and sale of actuating and special tools with standard elements.

MAPAL is going one step further in 2015: a new building of more than 5,000 square metres is being built in Eppingen in accordance with the latest energy guidelines at a cost of nine million Euros. It is one of the world's largest and most modern production facilities for actuating and ISO special tools. At the new site, the companies MAPAL ISOTOOL and Robert Strom are merged into one company. This is accompanied by the renaming of the company to MAPAL ITS GmbH, which has since functioned as the MAPAL Centre of Competence for actuating and ISO tools. A carefully developed overall concept with efficient production and logistics processes as well as state-of-the-art machinery ensure that even large quantities can be manufactured quickly and with the best quality and precision in Eppingen.

These include, in particular, complex special tools with actuating mechanisms that are equipped with functionalities for cutting insert adjustment or wear compensation during rotation. This requires a great deal of expertise and, above all, time-consuming manual work.

Today, the approximately 120 employees of MAPAL ITS make a significant contribution to the fact that the worldwide MAPAL sales organisation can offer its customers complete solutions from a single source that are perfectly tailored to their needs.
