Together with his partners, the Aalen-based accountant Dr Georg Kress acquires his client Otto Betzler’s precision tool factory, laying the groundwork for the company MAPAL.

In January, the company “Maschinen- und Präzisionswerkzeugbau Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung in Aalen/Württ.” is entered in Aalen’s commercial register.

1952
Ignoring the advice of his technicians, Dr Kress acquires the Italian patent for a new single-bladed reamer with adjustable cutting edge or blade.
MAPA becomes MAPAL due to a name claim from another company. The new brand name is legally protected and entered into the commercial register.
1956
1958
By changing the corporate form to a limited partnership, Dr Georg Kress assumes the full financial responsibility for MAPAL as the personally liable partner.
MAPAL obtains a patent for the first indexable insert reamer. In the same year, the rented parts of the Aalen workshop in Obere Bahnstraße in Aalen are bought.

Dr Dieter Kress is the second generation to join the family business. He primarily takes on responsibility for the engineering and sales areas.
