All locations in Germany are growing with MAPAL

1950–2025

At MAPAL's headquarters in Aalen, one topic runs through the entire history of the company: Due to constant growth, the company premises need to be expanded, modernised and restructured in different steps. New MAPAL locations away from Aalen are created through company acquisitions.

FROM A SIMPLE BUILDING TO THE MODERN HEADQUARTERS OF THE MAPAL GROUP

MAPAL's first premises are very modest. Like its predecessor, the company is accomodated in a rented barrack-like hall in Obere Bahnstrasse in Aalen - together with the Aalen district police station of the Wuerrttemberg state police. The space is cramped, and the boss's office can only be reached via a kind of “chicken ladder”. In 1958, an open space next to the hall was purchased and a shed hall was built on it. The increasingly important testing department is situated in an extension.

In 1962, MAPAL acquires the previous rented premises including ancillary areas and a decade later also the buildings and open spaces previously used by the police as well as other neighbouring plots of land. In 1975, a modern administration building was built on this land, followed by an extendable hall and a versatile canteen, the casino in 1980. Finally, the simple building of the early days gave way to a new building, and a spacious production building was also constructed on the other side of the factory. In 1986, the training center moved into the former administration building of the police headquarters and one year later the MAPAL administration moves into a modern new building. This was supplemented in 2000 by a further building where a technology and marketing centre with a testing and training department is connected to.

A service centre (2003), a logistics centre (2006) and two other production halls with 6,000 square metres each (2006 and 2013) give the site its current appearance with around 52,500 square metres of floor space.

Through the acquisition of subsidiaries, the MAPAL Group gained further German locations from 1994 on and today it has production plants in Pforzheim, Altenstadt, Winterlingen, Meiningen, Ehrenfriedersdorf and Eppingen. However, the largest location and centre of the MAPAL Group is still the main plant in Aalen, where today nothing reminds us of the modest beginnings.

IN 1975, the company premises were extended to include the production planning department and a two-storey administration building.

IN 1958, the shed hall next to the hut-like hall creates urgently needed additional production capacity.

IN 2007, the work at the headquarters has grown significantly, and only the shed hall from 1958 is reminiscent of the early days.
