Transformation to secure the future

Transformation to secure the future

2025

For decades, MAPAL has grown rapidly in the slipstream of its customers, particularly in the automotive industry. Changing conditions and global political upheavals have put a stop to this automatism. MAPAL has therefore embarked on a comprehensive transformation process that is leading the company on a future-proof path.

THE WORLD IS CHANGING – AND SO IS MAPAL

MAPAL's anniversary year 2025 is characterised by previously unimaginable challenges and crises, by changing times and ruptures. What tomorrow's world will look like is harder to predict than ever before. This also applies to future economic development and, in particular, to MAPAL's business model. For several years now, it has been apparent that global megatrends such as digitalisation, deglobalisation, demographic change and decarbonisation, with the associated shift away from combustion engines, will have a serious impact on MAPAL's previous model for success. Current developments such as US customs policy and the negative economic trend in Germany are further exacerbating the situation.

Back in 2020, when an initial crisis in the automotive industry and the coronavirus pandemic raised doubts about “business as usual”, MAPAL proactively embarked on a path of transformation. MAPAL's strategy is characterised by an expanded and more international management level, clearly defined strategic core topics, structural changes within the company, the development of additional skills and the acquisition of new customers outside the automotive industry. And this is based on a painful but unavoidable prioritisation: stability is initially more important than innovative brilliance, and also more urgent than investment and growth. Economic robustness in the face of the challenges of the present takes centre stage - also and especially as an indispensable “homework” for successfully shaping the future.

MAPAL's vision for the future is clearly outlined in four cornerstones of a strategic vision: MAPAL wants to be a company today and in the future that is in tune not only with current but also with future markets and customer requirements; that is state-of-the art in its way of working; where people really want to and enjoy working for and that delivers results.

All MAPAL employees can look back on 75 years of MAPAL with justifiable pride. They, as well as customers and partners, can look to the future with confidence. The first steps have been taken on the path to transforming the family-owned company - and more steps towards a successful future will follow.
